Lex Valentine: Werewolves of the Darkworld

In the Five Dark Realms, my paranormal world, the world where the werewolves live is called the Darkworld. In this world, werewolves live alongside other races such as the vampires (Acerbians), Magia (the race born with magic), the fae, and various other shifters (dragons, cats, etc.) They can also mate with the other races. And taking it a step farther, their mates do not have to be of the opposite sex.

The werewolves of the Darkworld usually belong to packs, but many live outside the confines of the pack. In my book Common Ground, Weylyn Randall doesn’t live with his pack. He’s a Beta, but he has a life outside the pack’s estate. He has a home on the border of the estate, but he spends a lot of his time traveling because he’s a rock star. His mate is part werewolf and part Magia. She never had a pack in part because of her mixed heritage, but mostly because her father the werewolf, died when she was a baby.

In Common Ground, we discover that while Weylyn’s lifestyle outside the confines of the pack aren’t particularly unusual, for other wolves, the pack is everything. Sair McCallan leaves her brother’s pack because of his over protectiveness. Ruan McCallan rules his pack with an iron hand and no one leaves without his permission. Of course, Sair leaves without permission and Ruan sends their cousin Seth to bring her home. Instead of bringing Sair home, Seth is convinced to leave the pack as well.

This sets up my Tales for Book Six, Sunstroked, where we find Seth settling into life without the pack. Sunstroked is about Seth’s journey to his fae mate Corey and part of his journey includes his cousin Alastair – Sair and Ruan’s brother – arriving on his doorstep because he’s left the pack too.

So while my werewolves do have some of the characteristics of other werewolves, in many ways they don’t follow the werewolves of legend. The moon pulls at them but does not force a shift on them. They go into heat, but it’s not always caused by the moon cycles. Silver has no power against them. Their shift takes place in the blink of an eye and is not a painful stretching of bones and skin. I suppose you could say they are a prettier, more elegant and technologically advanced form of wolf shifter. ;) But then, it’s my world and this is how I prefer them to be, elegant creatures with the ability to shape shift easily as if their bodies were performing a ballet rather than creatures from a horror film, twisting in painful bone crunching metamorphosis.

I invite you to check out the werewolves of my Darkworld. For those of you who prefer M/F books, Common Ground is mostly M/F although there is a chapter with a ménage a quatre. You could always skip that chapter if F/F, M/M or M/F/M squicks you out. If you like M/M books, Sunstroked is a gay erotic romance between a werewolf and a wildling.

Here’s the blurbs and covers for both books and links to excerpts. I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at the werewolves of the Darkworld. Thanks very much for having me at the Werewolf Party, Belinda!

Common Ground, Tales of the Darkworld Book 5

Blurb:

Werewolf Sair McCallan escapes the confines of her brother’s pack with the help of a mated werewolf couple who believe in open sexuality and relationships. With Weylyn and Keir Randall, Sair experiences freedom in all things for the first time in her life. When she meets her mate, she’s shocked to find he’s a boring, broody vampire. Uptight Marius Granville has his staid and orderly life completely shattered by the arrival of his bloodmate, a beautiful werewolf who steals his heart and expects him to join in her kinky play with the Randalls. Marius is forced out of his hum drum existence and opens himself to new sexual experiences to please Sair. As her new mate strives to give her everything she needs, Sair battles internal demons that threaten their fragile new relationship.

Warning: This book includes sex on a washing machine, a make out session ala From Here to Eternity, sex between best friends (F/F), double penetration of a female (oh, baby!), and the best blowjob in the world (M/M) all within the confines of the hottest ménage a quatre the Darkworld has ever seen.

Sunstroked, Tales of the Darkworld Book 6

Blurb:

When wildling Corey Green discovers his mate is Seth Dylan, a tough as nails, dour werewolf from the McCallan clan, he thinks his life is set. However, Seth’s not out and doesn’t know if he wants to be. A pivotal sexual encounter between the men has Seth running scared and leaves Corey broken hearted. The men meet again nearly two years later and this time Seth’s out but Corey’s dark depression is about to send him behind the Veil of the Jewel Box to the fae world. Seth’s determined to make up for running out on Corey, but the wildling’s sunny disposition has gone so dark it may be too late for them to build a life together. With love on his side, Seth sets out return the sunshine to Corey’s soul.

Warning: Contains two hot gay men who love sunshine, sex that makes the plants and trees grow, and a big bad wolf who will do anything to win the man he loves.

Really interesting take on werewolves - not your generic werewolf! I agree - the tattoo is great!

I will admit that I haven't read any of this series yet (I have several of your books, but my TBR pile is huge!) but the covers are gorgeous and definitely makes me want to move them to the top of the list.

Julia - Thanks! I do like to do things my way which is why my shifters are different.

Sarah - Thank you! I tried to give each book it's own flavor while still retaining some continuity to the series.

Melody - You'll have to catch up! LOL We're nearing the end of the series now. Thank you!

Hey, you're not allowed to be a brilliant artist as well. LOL - I am seriously impressed. I can't even draw a banana.

Jennifer - It is a hot picture isn't it? ;)

Carol - I love that man's arms!

Barbara - I can't draw a banana either. In addition, I hate bananas! LOL I'm strictly a Photoshop photo manipulation girl and font whore. :)

Hi Lex. Your Darkworld sounds amazing. The thought of all wolves, vamp and other assortment all living in a seperate world sounds good. I am going to add you to my book list!!! I also love how the wolf on the cover looks like a tattoo on her body :)
