June update

As many of you know, earlier this spring my mother was injured and had surgery to repair a broken hip. She's now in a rehab hospital for the summer, leaving me with full-time care of my niece. While it seems that being house-bound would enable more writing, it really doesn't. I've been handling her personal business, running her from hospital to doctor and then coming home and tending to KJ. Anyhow, between stress, a heat wave and just being worn to the bone, I haven't been writing much. Reading...plenty of that going on!

I've always been one to say that being a writer is a job and a discipline, that talent and inspiration are only small components of the whole. I still believe that, but when the will to create is not there, its like having a stick of dynamite in hand, without a match to light the fuse. Caregiver burn-out has a tendency to dampen all the fire that leads to my writing. A major part of the challenge is to accept that my writing is going slowly and not beat myself up with guilt over it. So where I'd usually have a summer and a winter release, I'll probably be missing one of those.Which sucks, but what do you do?

Last night I decided it was time to take things in hand and get started again, so I put in nearly 2K on a new project and started organizing my thoughts on a few other things I want to do. The first project is a new Coalition/Uncommon book...this one won't feature Helios and Griffin because I want to tie up some loose ends (Markus) before finishing out their story. While the title isn't set in stone, I'm calling it "The Pretender."  After that, I'll be working on a shifter book, though I'm not sure if it'll be Arcada or Truckee Wolves.

I did recently finish the first book in a new m/m trilogy. Its called "The Tenth Muse" and is about Eros, the son of Aphrodite and Ares. His lover is Rees, who is the title character. :) This series is called "The Aphrodite Project" and follows the mishaps of young Greek gods trying to blend into the modern world. 10M is now in the hands of my agent and we'll eventually see where it lands.

So in a nutshell, that's where I am at the moment. I wish I had exciting news...like a new release or something. But for now,I'm  taking care of home business and teasing my muse into action. I've got some good ideas and while there are bumps in the road ahead, everything will be fine. I've had to cancel on the UK LGBTQ gathering but I have high hopes that I'll be able to attend GRL and I've made reservations in NOLA for RT '14.

Have a great week, if you're in a heat wave zone, stay inside or find someplace cool to while away your days. Don't forget to drink plenty of water!

Happy Tails!

Belinda
